Boeing CEO: Decision to Use Simulators Pushes Back Return of 737 MAX

CEO Dave Calhoun says Boeing doesn't plan to cut its dividend despite the prolonged grounding of the 737 MAX jet.

Boeing’s (BA) - Get Report decision to push back the expected date for regulatory approval of service resumption for its 737 MAX jet stemmed from the company’s recommendation for pilots to undergo simulator training on the plane, according to Boeing CEO Dave Calhoun.

He also said the company hopes to resume production of the 737 MAX months before the authorized date for the aircraft to go back in the air, CNBC reported.

Calhoun also said the planemaker wouldn't cut its dividend despite the prolonged grounding of the 737 MAX jet.

Boeing shares fell 1.58% Wednesday to $308.41.

On Tuesday, the company announced that it doesn’t anticipate regulatory approval for service resumption until the middle of 2020. United Airlines said Wednesday that it doesn’t expect to fly the plane until this summer. The 737 MAX was grounded in March 2019 after two crashes in 18 months killed 346 people.

As for Tuesday’s decision by Boeing, “the trigger was a decision we made with the help of the board regarding simulator training and our recommendation to go down that path,” Calhoun said in a conference call with reporters, according to CNBC. “That was always going to elongate return to service.”

The company changed its stance on simulator training earlier this month, after previously saying that computer training would be enough to get pilots up to speed on flying the 737 MAX.

“This recommendation takes into account our unstinting commitment to the safe return of service as well as changes to the airplane and test results,” Boeing said in a statement announcing the change. “Final determination will be established by the regulators.”

The Federal Aviation Administration repeatedly has stressed there is no set schedule to get the 737 MAX back up in the air. And new problems with the 737 MAX have continuously surfaced during the FAA’s investigation.

The FAA said in a statement Tuesday that it’s pursuing “a thorough, deliberate process to verify that all proposed modifications to the Boeing 737 MAX meet the highest certification standards,” noting that “we have set no timeframe for when the work will be completed.”

How to video chat on WhatsApp using your iPhone or Android device

You can easily video chat on WhatsApp.

hatsApp is a free messaging app owned and operated by Facebook where you can message, video or voice chat, and share status updates with contacts across the globe.

If you have an Android or iPhone and have the WhatsApp application already installed, setting up a video chat call is fairly simple on either device. There is even an option to add multiple users to create a group video call — all you need is a Wi-Fi connection or cellular data.

How to video chat on WhatsApp

There are two ways to start a video chat on WhatsApp for iPhone users. You can either start the call from selecting the video chat option on the main menu on the platform or going directly to the message thread with the contact you want to video chat.

For Android users, simply open the chat with the person you want to video chat and tap the video icon.

  1. Open the WhatsApp app from your phone's home screen.
  2. Using the bottom menu, tap to select the Calls icon (resembling a phone).
  3. At the top of the Calls page, select the icon on the right resembling a phone and a plus sign.
  4. A list of your contacts will appear. Toggle through the list to find a specific contact, or type in the contact's name using the search bar at the top. To create a group call, tap "New Group Call" directly under the search bar.
  5. Once you've selected a contact, tap the video icon to the right of their name.
  6. A video call will then begin. Wait until your contact answers, and then voila! You got it.

You can also video call with a contact through your message thread. First open a chat, then select the video call icon at the top. Note that this method is also applicable for Android users.

WhatsApp finally gets dark mode on Android — here’s how to enable it

Welcome to TNW Basics, a collection of tips, guides, and advice on how to easily get the most out of your gadgets, apps, and other stuff.

WhatsApp is finally getting dark mode on mobile — but only for Android for the time being, so iPhone users will have to wait a little longer.

There’s another catch: the feature works solely through the app‘s latest beta version, which is already available on Google Play. Those signed up for the beta program should actually get the update automatically. If not, you can always enter the program to get the dark theme.

Up until now, the only way to get dark mode on WhatsApp was to use third-party apps and other similar tricks, and those only worked on its web version (to my knowledge, at least). Not anymore.

  • Click the dot menu in the upper right corner of the app, and head to Settings.
  • Select the Chats submenu.
  • Once there, you’ll see a Theme section.
  • Click it and select ‘Dark.’
  • How easy was that?

If you’re an Android type of person, go save your eyes from the brightness (even though scientists say it doesn’t make much of a difference). If you’re on iOS, hang in there, I guess

Big Boss: As soon as the arrival of Paras Chhabra, Mahira Sharma's attitude changed, leaving Shahnaz Gill alone

Paras returned to the main house from Chhabra Secret Room in Big Boss. On seeing Paras, Mahira Sharma and Shahnaz Gill become very excited. But with the arrival of Paras, the relationship between Shahnaz and Mahira has started changing.

In the last episode of Bigg Boss, Paras Chhabra returned from the secret room to the main house. On seeing Paras, Mahira Sharma and Shahnaz Gill become very excited. But with the arrival of Paras, the relationship between Shahnaz and Mahira has started changing.

Mahira left Shahnaz alone as soon as Paras arrived

Mahira hugged him as soon as he came to Paras's house. After this, she appeared with Paras all the time. In the midst of all this, Shahnaz Gill fell alone. The rest of the families also noticed this. Rashmi Desai also spoke with Shahnaz on this issue. While talking to Rashmi, Shehnaz told that she wants to talk to Paras in private, but Mahira is with him right now. He is closer to Paras.

Rashmi raised the question and said to Shahnaz - when Mahira was alone, you supported her, stayed with her. But now when Paras has come, she has forgotten you. You know, Siddharth and Shahnaz used to live with Mahira after leaving Paras's house. When Siddharth too left, both Shahnaz-Mahira stood with each other on every occasion.

But now it seems that after the arrival of Paras Chhabra, there will be a distance between Shahnaz and Mahira. Shahnaz Gill also looked quite upset after seeing the changing attitude of Mahira Sharma. On the other hand, Vikas Gupta has become the new captain of the house and Siddharth Shukla has been sent directly to the hospital from Bigg Boss. Fans are praying for Siddharth to recover soon.
